One of the main advantages of the Ecuadorian Amazonia is the easy access. Just in a few hours you can go from the highlands to the jungle. The Amazon of Ecuador is very small compared with the Brazilian Amazon; however, in this exuberant and dense vegetation you will find a very good amount of flora and fauna species.  Aventurecuador offers you some options to discover the Amazonia and programs from 3 to 5 days.  It is your choice among Sani lodge, Napo wildlife, la Casa del Suizo or Liana lodge but, we assure you that any of them will make you experience the jungle and the culture of the people.


SANI LODGE - 4 nights/5 days
Sani Lodge, a unique Ecuador ecolodge, began its activity in 2002.   It is located between the Cuyabeno wildlife reserve and Yasuni National Park.  Here, the biodiversity will amaze you! On your adventure, you will walk through a pristine rainforest gallery that is home to 1,500 species of trees, hundreds of climbing vines, and exotic flowers, as well as 550 species of tropical birds, 13 species of monkeys and 1,000 species of beautiful butterflies.  It is truly a one of a kind Ecuador ecolodge dedicated to ecotourism, environmental conservation, and community projects.  It is owned and operated by members of the Sani community, meaning that with their extensive knowledge of the Amazon wildlife and biodiversity they can give visitors the true experience of the Amazon jungle. In addition, profits from the jungle lodge are reinvested into the community, improving the lifes of all who live there. 

Itinerary :

D 1   Quito - Coca - Napo river - Sani Lodge

Arrival in Coca and transfer to the Rio Napo harbor ro take the boat.  Lunch on the boat.  After 3 hours you will be entering into Chaullayacu, the small stream connecting the lagoon with the Río Napo, takes about 30 - 45 minutes before arriving at the lodge.  Arrival at the lodge, settling down in the rooms and a relax time before Dinner.  Night hike

D 2   Sani Lodge - Jungle hike

Early Breakfast.  Departure to one the jungle trails.  45-minute canoe ride across the lagoon enjoying the morning activity (birds, caimans, monkeys, manatees, etc.).  3 to 4-hour hike including a small snack break in between.  Return to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon 2 hour hike.  Return to the Lodge.  Caiman watching or night hike (both optional) 

D 3   Jungle adventure

Early Breakfast.  Departure to the 30ms birdwatch tower. 5 minutes canoe ride to the Aguila trail head and  10 minutes walk to the birdwatch tower.  Time for birdwatching, listening to the sounds of the Howler Monkey   Departure from birdwatch tower to the Aguila Trail. 2 ½ hours hike back to the lodge exploring the jungle; flora and fauna.  Lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon Piranha-fishing in the lagoon and float for sunset 

D 4   Jungle adventure

Early Breakfast.  Departure to Coto trail by dugout canoe.  1 hour 20 minutes canoe ride to Coto trail head
Hike for 2 hours exploring for flora and fauna.  Return to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon departure to watchtower, 5 minutes canoe ride and hike to get there.  Back to lodge for dinner.  Caiman-watching or night hike (both optional)

D 5   Lodge Sani - Napo River - Coca - Quito

Early breakfast.  Departure from Sani Lodge, about 4 hours canoe ride to get to Coca to take the flight to go back to Quito.  arrival in Quito at midday.

NAPO WILDLIFE CENTRE - 3 nights/4 days
The Napo Wildlife Center and Amazon Lodge, is the greatest and ultimate alternative luxury eco-hotel in Amazonian Ecuador. This ecotourism project includes the conservation of approximately over 82 square miles (53,500 acres - over 21,400 hectares ) of the most pristine Amazon Rain Forest within the Yasunì National Park, an important UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the largest tract of tropical rain forest in Ecuador.  It is located by the Anangucocha lake, within the unique ancestral territory of the Anangu Quichua Community, part of the Yasuni National Park.
Itinerary :

D 1   Quito – Coca – Napo Wildlife Centre

Departing from Quito, 30 minute flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range.  5 minute transfer to Port Francisco de Orellana.  Canoe ride along Napo River for abour 2 hours.  Pack lunch in route.  Along the way many birds can be stotted.  Arrival at the lodge and then 1 hour dugout canoe ride surrounded by trees overhead, paddling along a narrow creed that connects to the lake where the lodge is located.  Return to the lodge for a welcome drink and dinner.  Cayman watching (optional)

D 2   Parrots observation - Visit to a Quichua community

Early wake up to reach the best and easy access parrot clay licks in Ecuador, about 1 hour away from the lodge, guests reach there just before parrot activity kicks off at the clay lick between 7:30 to 8:30. A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen. A visit that depends on weather conditions but usually successful. Later, hike along forest trail to visit to the Quichua community of Añangu and sharing time with a family on their activities. Return to the creek and hike through a Terra Firme Forest for about 30 minutes until we arrive to the second parrot clay lick where if the weather conditions help will be able to find different species of parrots, parakeets and even macaws. Box lunch at the parrot clay lick observatory. Late afternoon arrival to the lodge. 

D 3   Wildlife observation - Canopy

After an early breakfast, depart from the lodge to the finest experience at a canopy tower on the Napo. A 36m high canopy tower opened to guests in November 2004, a great way to experience the life above the forest floor.  The canopy tower is located about 20 minutes from the lodge deep within the terra firme forest. As you ascend the 12-story tower, you pass through different levels of the forest and emerge on top of a huge Ceiba tree. Here you cross onto a wooden platform that is actually built into the tree and experience the view formerly reserved only for the birds.  The platform at the top of the tree was constructed by tree platform specialists as well. From top to bottom, there is no finer canopy experience in Eastern Ecuador. Flocks of colorful tanagers pass right through the canopy of the tree, Blue-andyellow Macaws fly past, in nearby trees Spider Monkeys search for fruit, two species of large toucans call in the early mornings and afternoons, and the life of the forest canopy opens before you. Birds that are virtually impossible to see from the forest floor far below are suddenly right beside you, oblivious to your presence.  Lunch at the lodge.  Afternoon visit to a terra firme trail, hike along primary forest to discover the forest interior, posibilities of finding lizards, colorful manakins or the unique and endemic Golden mantle tamarin monkeys. After the hike, explore the lake and creeks by dugout canoe with great possibilities of running into a Giant otter family on the way 

 D 4   Napo Wildlife Centre - Quito

Early departure and last excursion canoeing back to the Napo river, the creek may reveal new sights of Giant otters, Monk Saki monkeys or many other rare birds.  Entry docking area to embarking on a motorized canoe in order to return to Coca, arrival approximately after 2 hours.  Transfer to the Airport to tak the flight back to Quito.


LA CASA DEL SUIZO - 3 nights/4 days
It is a tranquil Amazonian refuge located on the shore of Ecuador's majestic Napo River and a stone's throw away from the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains.  Perched comfortably above the riverbank and the small Quechua indian village of Ahuano.  La Casa del Suizo overlooks vast expenses of the sorrounding tropical rainforest environment.

 Itinerary: 

D 1   Quito - Papallacta - La Casa del Suizo

Departure from Quito.  After 2 hour drive you will have a stop in Papallacta hotsprings,  popular for all the benefits of its volcanic water.  After a swim and lunch you continue down to the amazon rainforest, 4 hour journey to embark on a motorized canoe in Punta Ahuano.  20 minutes boat ride to the lodge.  Arrival and time to relax before dinner. 

D 2   Jungle adventure - Quichua life

Breakfast.  Departure on a motorized canoe up stream along Napo River to a spot where your hike through primary forest begin.  3 to 4 hour walk to learn of medicinal plants and discover the hidden treasure of the jungle.   The return to the lodge is on a raft built of balsa wood logs.  Lunch.  The afternoon is a good time to look at the local life visiting indian houses where you will try ºchichaº a kasaba fermented drink,  use de blowpipe, see the local crafts such as ceramics and balsa wood handicrafts.  Return to the lodge for dinner. 

D 3   Local life 

Breakfast.  Departure on a motorized canoe to visit the agriculture zones.  You will be walking in one of the 200 islands the Napo river has along its length.  Goog opportunity to discover the way people make their living in the area.  Back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you have the option to visit a rescue centre and enjoy tubing in one of the nearby rivers.  Back to the lodge to enjoy the swimming pool or just have a relax afternoon.  

D 4  La Casa Del Suizo Lodge - Quito

After the breakfast  departure to go back to Quito. The  pack lunch will be taken on the way.  Arrival in Quito in the afternoon.


LIANA LODGE - 2 nights/3 days

Selva Viva was founded in 1993, a rainforest preservation project aiming to save still existing areas of primary forest which otherwise would be in accute danger of deforestation.  The ecologically and environmentally sustainable project seeks to protect not only the rainforest but also its people and therefore consists of the following:  Protected forest Selva Viva, animal rescue centre amaZOOnico, Community-run lodge Runa Huasi. Local school Sacha Yachana Huasi Christina, Liana Lodge and direct financial help for the Indigenous community in cases of emergency 

Itinerary:

D 1    Quito – Liana Lodge 

Departure from Quito.  You have a 6 hour journey to get to Puerto Barantilla where a motorized canoe will be waiting for you to take you to the lodge, 5 minutes canoe ride.  Lunch will be taken on the way down to the Amazonia.  Arrival and distribution of the cabins.  A welcome drink is a good way to start your adventure in the rainforest.  Before dinner you can enjoy a swim in Arajuno River.  During dinner you will have a briefing of the activities you will be doing. 

D 2   Selva Viva rainforest - AmaZOOnico

Breakfast and soon after a hike in the tropical rainforest part of Selva Viva (Protected primary rainforest).  Lunch at the lodge.  In the afternoon visit to the AmaZOOnico, a rescue wildlife centre, guided by a foreign volunteer.  Dinner and night at the lodge.

D 3   Quichua Community - Quito

Early wake up to observe birds before the sunrise.  Breakfast and then, visit to Anaconda Island right across Arajuno River.  You will have the opportunity to see a little bit of the agriculture done in the area and learn more of Quichua culture. Visit to a local family to know more of their life and try the typical fermented drink made of kasava.  After this departure to go back to Quito.
