Two lodges with incredible programs to have a real adventure in the Amazonia: Cotococha  with an excellent rafting program and, Gareno lodge.  Activities such as hiking in primary forest, meeting local communities and watching birds are among the many you can do in the jungle.  You can also enjoy doing rafting.


COTOCOCHA - 2 nights/ 3 days

Experience Ecuador's Amazon in a comfortable way. This unique Amazon Lodge is located in the upper Amazon basin overlooking the majestic Napo River.

Itinerary :

D 1   Quito - Papallacta hotsprings - Cotococha lodge

Departure from Quito.  After 2 hour drive you will have a stop in Papallacta hotsprings,  popular for all the benefits of its volcanic water.  After a swim and lunch you continue down to the amazon rainforest,  3 1/2 hour journey to the lodge.  After the long drive you can relax for a while in the beautiful spacious bungalow built in a rustic native design surrounded by gardens full of amazing jungle plants and flowers. A delicious dinner will be served in a romantic candlelight setting at the attractively decorated restaurant. Afterwards you will enjoy a special welcome drink, relaxing yourselves around the elegant fireplace, to coordinate and discuss next day's activities with the local crew. You will feel absolutely comfortable in this lovely peaceful setting filled with nightly sights and sounds of the Amazon jungle. 

D 2   Rafting in Anzu river (class II+)

Breakfast and afterwards departure from the lodge to Anzu River to do rafting.  This a perfect trip for those seeking a river that provides a fun and relaxing day floating through small rapids and relaxing pools all among the Amazon rainforest.  16 kilometres to put into practice all what you know of rafting.  A day to also enjoy a delicious riverside lunch.  In the afternoon back to the lodge. 

D 3   Rafting in Jatunyacu River. (class III+)

The UpperNapoRiver is also known locally as the JatunyacuRiver, which means "BIG WATER" in Quichua. "Big" is probably the best word to describe this river - BIG WAVES and BIG FUN!.  This is a great trip for both beginners and experts alike. The Upper Napo River has the perfect combination of exciting rapids, calm pools, and fabulous Amazon rainforest scenery to delight anyone. Being the headwaters of one of the two rivers that form the mighty Amazon River, The UpperNapoRiver is a rafting adventure that should not be passed up! No previous rafting experience is necessary.   After your riverside lunch return to Quito.


GARENO LODGE - 3 nights / 4 days

Gareno is the name of the river that flows through the Huaorani Territory.  Here you find the mystical and wild heart of the primary rainforrest of Ecuador.  Together, the Huaorani village, Gareno and the ONHAE orgagnization, agreed to build Gareno Lodge.

Itinerary :

D 1   Quito – Gareno Lodge

Departure from Quito via Papallacta pass, down to Tena and from there to the lodge.  After aproximately 6 to 7 hour drive arrival at Gareno.  On time for a welcome cocktail.  Dinner and an optional night walk. 

D 2   Jungle adventure and bird watching

After breakfast 4 - 6 hour walk in the primary forest accompanied by a native gide.  You will discover the flora, fauna and Huaorani culture, as welll as learn of medicinal plants.  Return to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon you go fishing, swimming or just search for birds and other wildlife.  Dinner and night walk (optional) 

D 3   Huaorani Community

A very early wake up to watch birds and mammals.  After breakfast you will visit a Huaorani community to discover their way of life.  The native guide will explain all about them and make you go into the magic world of this indian group.  Return to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon, you will have a walk along the river to enjoy the mysteries of the rainforest and, afterwards you will have the opportunity to learn to use the blowpipe used by indians to hunt.  Dinner and night walk (optional) 

D 4   Gareno Lodge - Quito

Have your last early morning before departing to watch birds.  Breakfast and drive back to Quito.  End of your jungle adventure.
